Shutting up is always the best choice

One person's misdirection from what is supposed to be the topic at hand on a blog does not excuse another doing exactly the same.

Yet, stupidly, I let my emotions get the better of me, and I just had to respond.

And I just had to make a fool of myself.

Maybe one day I'll learn, but as of today, I certainly haven't demonstrated understanding.

I can only be grateful for whatever patience was demonstrated in simply telling me what to do, instead of firing me out of a figurative cannon into the proverbial sun.

It certainly doesn't help that existing tensions were high, and such misbehavior would be viewed with an especially critical eye.

Given the statistics on people who see this blog, I am very clearly writing this more for myself than anyone else, but perhaps I can at least use this as a marker for myself, something to look at as a scar, a reminder of a failure that I should learn from and not ever repeat.

Actions matter more than words

Peter denied Jesus three times, but was later executed for his faith in Jesus Christ.

Failures are a reminder of fallibility, a gift for sustaining humility.

There's a good reason why folks who make claims of perfection generate an immediate suspicion.

If you point to Jesus Christ instead of yourself, your failures become a non-sequitur, a distraction.

Point to yourself and your failures will be all that anyone wants to talk about.
